The Journey - Guiding Boys and Young Men:

The Brotherhood/Sister Sol and the novel Passage

 

UCLA Professor of Education, Pedro Noguera, and Khary Lazarre-White will speak about their work with The Brotherhood/Sister Sol, a nationally renowned, comprehensive youth development and educational organization. Khary will also read from and discuss his novel Passage, which tells the story of Warrior, a young black man in Harlem and Brooklyn in 1993 whose experiences bear a striking resemblance to those of black male youth today. Khary received his B.A. in Africana Studies from Brown University and his JD from Yale Law School where his focus was international human rights law and constitutional law.

 

The event is free and open to the public. Parking can be purchased at Parking Structure 2 (Manning Drive & Charles E Young Drive East) or Parking Structure 3 (Hilgard Ave and Charles E Young Dr North). UCLA is a Smoke and Tobacco-Free campus.
