A “literary grandmaster” (Time) whose work reveals how power and identity intersect, ARIEL DORFMAN has been hailed as one of the greatest living Latin American novelists. A Chilean expatriate, Dorfman has spent his life exploring the reality and dreams of the many Americas. His works, translated into more than thirty languages, include the acclaimed memoir Heading South, Looking North and the novels WidowsKonfidenz, and Blake’s Therapy. His works of nonfiction include Exorcising Terror: The Incredible Ongoing Trial of General Augusto Pinochet. A playwright to boot, Dorfman’s plays have been performed in more than one hundred countries, and his Death and Maiden was made into a film by Roman Polanski. The recipient of many international awards, Dorfman contributes to major newspapers worldwide. He is a distinguished professor at Duke University and lives with his wife, Angelica, in Durham, North Carolina.
