  • Jesus of Nazareth Film Adaption in the Midsts

    Paul Verhoeven, director, and author of Jesus Of Nazareth, will direct the movie adaption of the book. Verhoeven  has been researching the Christ story for over two decades, and has hit some controversial notes with his telling of the tale. (For instance, he suggests Jesus’s birth could be the product of his mother being raped by a Roman soldier, a commonplace practice at the time).

    Verhoeven discounts Jesus’s existence as miraculous, but holds a very passionate perspective on his teachings.

    “It’s not about miracles, it’s about a new set of ethics, an openness towards the world, which was anathema in a Roman-dominated world. I believe he was crucified because they felt that politically, he was a dangerous person whose following was getting bigger and bigger. Jesus’ ideals are about the utopia of human behavior, about how we should treat each other, how we should step into the shoes of our enemy.”
