September 26, 2012Greg Palast, says Noam Chomsky, “upsets all the right people,” and he’s coming to Portland on September 26th at 7:30pm at the Clinton Street Theater as part of the book tour for Billionaires & Ballot Bandits: How to Steal an Election in 9 Easy Steps. As in the past, Greg has offered this speaking engagement as a benefit for KBOO, our dearly loved community radio station. Here’s what Greg has to say for himself”“If you’re not sick and outraged and ready to vomit, then don’t talk to me. When I see a cruel bucket of garbage and winky-winky racism and bullshit and venom like Paul Ryan talk to America like he’s some kind of Boy Scout, I want a gun, or a TV network where I can tell the truth or a giant washing machine to dunk America and rinse off the crud of lies and pure manipulative evil that they’re feeding us.

Willamette Week put Greg Palast in the hot seat last week, asking him questions about his newest book Billionaires and Ballot Bandits, protecting American voters’ rights, problems with the media, and even Harry Potter.
“ WW: You’ve said, “I’m a reporter. It’s not my job to preserve Democrats.” Yet almost all of your stories champion traditionally liberal causes.
Greg Palast: I didn’t say I wasn’t progressive. That certainly wouldn’t make me a Democrat. I’m completely driven by anger and resentment toward the rich. I f*****’ hate ’em. I hate these people with my heart and soul. I hate the fact they go after the defenseless and the voiceless. At this moment in history, the Republicans are more sophisticated; that’s why they’ve been rented out by billionaires to do their work. If I thought my job was to elect schmucks like Al Gore, I would jump off a building. He should have been inaugurated, even though he didn’t think so.”
