Join Daniella Gitlin, translator for Operation Massacre, alongside Antonia Lloyd-Jones and Max Weiss as part of the Bridge reading series for literary translation, hosted by the Barnard Center for Translation Studies.
Operation Massacre, by Argentine journalist Rodolfo Walsh, is a detailed account of the night of June 9th, 1956 when twelve men in a Buenos Aires suburb were arrested on suspicion of conspiring against the military government, and were taken to a garbage dump on the edge of the city and executed. Seven of the doomed men survived and Walsh tracked them down and tells their stories of that fateful night.
Daniella Gitlin is a writer, translator, and editor. She studied comparative literature at Princeton University and spent a year in Buenos Aires working with Poder Ciudadano, the local affiliate of Transparency International.
