Voice Over shortlisted for Independent Foreign Fiction Prize

April 2, 2009

In the inevitable sequel to this news item, Céline Curiol’s Voice Over has just been shortlisted for the UK’s Independent Foreign Fiction Prize.

The five books in the unfortunate position of competing with Céline Curiol and Sam Richard are:

  • Beijing Coma by Ma Jian, translated by Flora Drew
  • Friendly Fire by A. B. Yehoshua, translated by Stuart Schoffman
  • The Siege by Ismail Kadare, translated by David Bellos
  • The Armies by Evelio Rosero, translated by Evelio Rosero
  • The Informers by Juan Gabriel Vasquez, translated by Evelio Rosero (again!)

The prize will be £10,000, divided between Curiol and Richard; the winners will be announced on May 14th in London. Congratulations in advance to Curiol and Richard—and if you haven’t read Voice Over yet, take a long look here on our site.
