The anticipation is building for the June 25th release of Volume 3 of The Graphic Canon, the massive collection of classic and modern world literature adapted by artists and illustrators.
Want an inside look at how these brilliant artists adapted our most beloved modern classics?
Join us tomorrow, June 4th at 7:30pm at the Irish Arts Center for a panel discussion and reception to celebrate the soon-to-be-released Graphic Canon Vol 3.
June 4th, 7:30pm
Irish Arts Center
553 W 51st St New York, NY 10019
Seven Stories publisher Dan Simon and editor Veronica Liu will introduce the event and thank editor Russ Kick (unfortunately not present) for his vision.
Karen Green, graphic novel librarian at Columbia University and walking encyclopedia of graphic novels, will be moderating a panel discussion with the incredible artists Peter Kuper (adapted Franz Kafka’s ”The Top” and “Give It Up!”), Robert Berry (adapted Ulysses by James Joyce), Annie Mok (adapted ”Araby” from Dubliners by James Joyce), Lauren Weinstein (adapted ”The Dreaming of the Bones” by W.B. Yeats), and Brendan Leach (adapted ”The Voice of the Hamster” by Thomas Pynchon).
A selection of Robert Berry’s drawings from Ulysses, part of the Bloomsday celebration sponsored by Irish Arts Center, will be on display in the gallery, where the reception will take place following the panel discussion.
I hope you will join us for wine, cheese and great conversation with some of the charming and talented artists who have made The Graphic Canon such a one-of-kind project.
Sponsored by the Irish Arts Center and Seven Stories Press.
