LETTER FOR THE FEB 15, 2012 BOOK PARTY FOR VOICES OF THE WOMEN’S HEALTH MOVEMENT
Barbara Seaman was a dear and close colleague of Our Bodies Ourselves over many years. She contributed to most editions of “Our Bodies, Ourselves” and is one of the people to whom we have dedicated the 40th anniversary edition of this book, which came out last October in time for the book’s 40th anniversary.
Kyra Zola Norsigian, daughter of OBOS Executive Director Judy Norsigian and now 29 years old, recalls that some her best play dates ever were with Barbara at her West End Ave apartment about 25 years ago. Barbara’s sense of humor, her fabulous wit, and her ability to inspire all of us who were blessed to be among her friends make clear why she was one of our favorite leaders in the modern-day women’s health movement.
Barbara’s prolific writings remain as testimonials to her indefatigable spirit and commitment to social justice. Her collaboration with Laura Eldridge to produce VOICES OF THE WOMEN’S HEALTH MOVEMENT gives us all the opportunity to ensure that the work of the Women’s Health Movement will be visible to a whole new generation. Do join us in partnering with Laura and Seven Stories Press to help get the word out about this wonderful new book. Buy a copy for a college student, a friend, a health worker, or anyone else who would benefit from reading these powerful stories.
Best wishes from all of us at Our Bodies Ourselves.
