There are only three days left of Long Distance Revolutionary, the Mumia Abu-Jamal film playing at Cinema Village. Fron the author of All Things Censored and director Stephen Vittoria comes this inside look at Mumia’s constant struggle.
Mumia Abu-Jamal was a brilliant journalist and a talented writer before his incarceration in 1981 following the death of a Pennsylvania police officer. For over thirty years, Mumia Abu-Jamal has been behind bars, but not silently. Through interviews, archival footage, and dramatic readings, Long Distance Revolutionary serves as an inside look to the life of this writer before, during, and after his life on death row.
Already successful at film festivals nation-wide, this documentary is playing at Cinema Village through February 14th. Alice Walker says of the film, “The movie is really important because it teaches us in a very graphic and very moving way that we are all Mumia, that what has happened to him could very well happen to any of us.”
