  • Greg Palast’s Billionaires & Ballot Bandits Debuts on the NYT Bestseller List

    October 1, 2012

Greg Palast’s important new book on the billionaires behind the many acts of voter suppression that could lead to 5.9 million votes being stolen in the upcoming election has debuted on the New York Times bestseller list!

Billionaires & Ballot Bandits: How to Steal an Election in 9 Easy Steps, with comics by Ted Rall and an introduction by Robert F. Kennedy is #10 on the Paperback Nonfiction list.

Greg will be speaking at Busboys and Poets in Washington DC on Monday, October 22nd.

Check out this review in the New York Times Sunday Book Review:

“Palast’s prose has a zippy, breathless quality that might put you in mind of Michael Moore — ‘How does a ballot get spoiled? Not by leaving it out of the fridge’ — but he’s also an expert in statistics who reports regularly for the BBC, Rolling Stone and other outlets.”

  • Billionaires & Ballot Bandits excerpt on AlterNet

    September 28, 2012

Billionaires & Ballot Bandits: How to Steal an Election in 9 Easy Steps by Greg Palast with a 50-page comic by Ted Rall and an intro by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is OUT NOW!

AlterNet recently ran a great excerpt.

    Here’s a sample, below:

Stop me if you heard this one. See, these ten nuns walk into a polling station in Indiana and the guy in charge says,  “Whoa, Sisters! What do think you’re doing?”

    “Voting,” says Sister Mary.

“Well, not here, ladies; not without your ID!” He demanded their driver’s licenses, but the ten quite elderly Sisters of the Holy Cross, including a 98 year-old, had long ago given up cruising.

“Scram, Sis!” said the man, and kicked their habits right out of the polling station.

  • Billionaires & Ballot Bandits on sale TODAY

    September 17, 2012

Greg Palast’s new book that could save the upcoming election: Billionaires & Ballot Bandits: How to Steal an Election in 9 Easy Steps, is on sale TODAY! Don’t wait any longer to get a copy and get the word out to stop millions of votes from being stolen in the upcoming election.

Greg Palast’s new book Billionaires & Ballot Bandits with an introduction by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and illustrated with a 50-page comic book by Ted Rall, may be the most important book published this election season. In his intro Bobby Kennedy says “Voter suppression is a crime. For example, voter ‘caging’ is illegal, and it is a crime that we know is practiced on a widespread basis. And yet, it isn’t prosecuted…”

As Charles M. Blow wrote in a recent NYT Op-Ed column, referring to the wave of new ID requirements surfacing in many states: “Make no mistake about it, these requirements are not about the integrity of the vote but rather the disenfranchisement of voters.”

Check out this recent review of Billionaires & Ballot Bandits in the San Diego Free Press.

  • Greg Palast and Ted Rall on Sunday’s Firedoglake Book Salon

    September 10, 2012

Because Americans aren’t anxious enough forced to digest anemic monthly jobsnumbers, an economy teetering on the precipice, the steady stream of illegal home foreclosures, a Democratic President poised to shiv Social Security and Medicare, and the country’s insidious metamorphosis into a security state, they also have to worry about something so basic as the right to vote. That’s because über-bully Karl Rove, not content to have put the Dauphin of Dumbfuckistan in the White House, decided that controlling the Executive Branch wasn’t enough. Like his Machiavellian comrade and patron, Charles Koch, he “want[ed] his fair share–and that’s all of it.” Hey, if that means depriving American citizens of their civil rights, well, so be it. There are always going to be winners and losers, amirite? Whaddya gonna do about it?

Enter Greg Palast. Let me rephrase: ENTER Greg Palast. Many of you may already be familiar with Palast’s investigative reports on everything from our decaying democracy to the looting of African economies that have appeared in The Guardian, the BBC, Rolling Stone, Harper’s and The Nation, among others.

  • Ted Rall, author of Book of Obama, in Tempe, AZ THIS SATURDAY, 8/25

    August 25, 2012

Ted Rall, social-commentary writer and cartoonist, will be speaking at Changing Hands Bookstore on Saturday, August 25th at 7pm to speak about his new book, The Book of Obama.

Through words and images, Rall wonders: How did a charismatic young president, elected in an atmosphere of optimism and expectation, lead the United States to the brink of revolution in the form of the Tea Party and Occupy movements? From a chance encounter in the early ’80s to the Democratic primaries of 2007-2008, Rall was one of the first to size up Barack Obama as some progressives regard him now: “conservative, risk-averse, and tone-deaf.”

    Ted Rall: Occupy Main Street

    September 27, 2011

"Occupy Wall Street should have demanded something majestic, reasonable and unobtainable, in order to expose the brutal nature of the system. Something like the nationalization of all corporations, equal wages for all workers, or the abolition of securities exchanges."
