Join Cory Silverberg at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco as he hosts a reception and workshop focused on his book What Makes a Baby.
Geared towards children from pre-school age through 8 years old, What Makes a Baby teaches kids about conception, gestation, and birth in a way that includes every type of child in every type of family. The lessons taught in this book work regardless of whether a child was adopted, conceived through the use of reproductive technologies, or through surrogacy, and regardless of how many people were involved in the conception, or those peoples’ orientation or gender. Equally as important, Silverberg’s story doesn’t gender its characters or body parts, so families will find that it makes space for them to teach their child without having to make substitutions for their own experiences.
