Join Swedish authors Linus Larsson and Daniel Goldberg for this one-of-a-kind interactive event celebrating the launch of Minecraft: The Unlikely Tale of Markus “Notch” Persson and the Game that Changed Everything. Hosted by the NYU Game Center, this event will include a reading, discussion and Minecraft gaming.
Minecraft: The Unlikely Tale of Markus “Notch” Persson and the Game that Changed Everything (November 5, 2013) is a Cinderella story for the Internet age. It is the story of unlikely success, fast money, and the power of digital technology to rattle an empire. It is about creation, exclusion, and that feeling of not fitting in. But above all it is the story of the fine line between seeming misfit and creative madman, and the birth of a tech visionary.
This in-depth look at the international phenomenon and its creator, an unknown computer programmer turned multi-millionaire pop culture icon, tells the human story behind the pixelated blocks. It includes a full-color photo insert of Minecraft creations that the community has nominated as the best representations of what can be built in the game. Fans and gaming enthusiasts of all ages will find this book, available for the first time in English, to be an informative and personal rags-to-riches story that will awe and inspire.
Both authors will be at the NYU Game Center to discuss the book, answer questions, and engage in a hands-on Minecraft gaming experience.
