Last night, the legendary Tom Hayden — revolutionary student leader, former California state assemblymember and senator, and author of more than twenty books — appeared at Barnes & Noble Union Square in New York City. In conversation with the inimitable Juan González, Tom talked about the past and future of US-Cuba relations, his conversations with Cuban revolutionary and statesman Ricardo Alarcón, and, of course, his new book, the already critically acclaimed Listen, Yankee!: Why Cuba Matters.
After a night’s sleep, Tom was off this morning to the studios of Democracy Now!, where he again talked with Juan González and Amy Goodman, not only about Cuba, but also the situation in Baltimore, the Chicago 8 trial, and much more. You can watch the first and second segments of their conversation on the Democracy Now! site, as well as read an excerpt from Listen, Yankee!.
And here are some photos of last night’s Barnes & Noble event!
If that’s not enough Hayden for you, fear not — you can also check out Tom’s recent interview with TruthOut.org, his wonderful recent piece on Cuba and the Cold War in the Sacramento Bee, or this hometown interview with the Detroit News. And Tom’s tour isn’t over — click here to see where you can catch him in the flesh.
