Description

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YOU BACK THE ATTACK, WE'LL BOMB WHO WE WANT by Micah Ian Wright, a book of re-mixed war propaganda posters that Seven Stories Press released in the early spring of 2003, includes an introduction by Wright that purported to be a factual account of the author's experiences. This morning, April 27, 2004, the author informed us that the account was untrue, that the experiences relating to his enlistment and service in the U.S. armed forces never happened. We were deeply dismayed by Wright's admissions, and have canceled publication of a follow-up book of his that we were planning to publish this spring. The author's introduction will be removed from any future printings of YOU BACK THE ATTACK. Trust is the foundation of everything we do as book publishers. While it saddens us to cancel any book, especially one so strong on its merits, this decision seems to us to be unavoidable under the circumstances.

Stunning, hilarious, and politically incendiary, this full-color poster book reworks classic American World War I and II propaganda into commentaries on war, peace, and patriotism for the post-September 11 era. The forty one-sided posters make fun of war mentality, the Bush White House, Homeland Security, the War on Terror, Ashcroft, the 2000 Presidential election, the military-industrial complex, and much more. Forty posters of yesteryear such as Uncle Sam's "I Want You," and "Loose Lips Sink Ships" are reworked with new messages of peace and protest.

Reader Comments

-May 2, 2004, a reader said:

Micah is a liar! He singlehandedly is destroying our credability, and your publishing house is helping him. How can you allow a liar to represent us!?!? He is making money off of his lies about who he is and the validity of what he says. This is the worst kind of crap. Shame on him and you. Publishers Response: We were as shocked and dismayed as anyone else when we found out that Micah's claims of having served in the military were entirely false. Which is why we canceled publication of his upcoming book, please read the statement we have posted regarding this on the books information page.
